As an example booking, I found seats for a last-minute Valentine's Day getaway departing Los Angeles LAX on Tuesday, February 12, returning from Milan MXP on Tuesday, February 19.
This is a Basic Economy fare, which only includes carry-on bags and does not include advanced seat selection. A Main Cabin Economy fare is much more expensive (over $1000) on these dates so I would recommend buying a basic ticket and paying $60 each way for a checked bag, if necessary.
