We love our pets here at Airfarewatchdog, especially our dogs. Below are seven accessories you'll want to bring if you’re traveling with your pet. Let us know in the comments if we forgot anything.

#1 Collar

This one sounds pretty obvious, but not everyone keeps a collar on their dog—while traveling you’ll want to do so! Make sure the collar has some identification and contact information. If your dog runs off when you’re walking him or her in a new city, this will come in handy. This customizable collar from Amazon is simple and effective.

#2 Comfortable Air Carrier

If you’re going to have your dog in a carrier throughout your trip, try to choose one that’s comfortable and size-appropriate. Our favorite is this airline-approved one from Living Express, which has bedding perfect for a small dog.

#3 City/Walking Carrier

If your dog is small enough to carry around, opt for a comfortable bag that will hold your pet in front of you or on your back. We love this one from Pawaboo.

#4 Dog Leash

This one is common sense too, but it doesn’t hurt to have a reminder. Choose a sturdy and dependable leash; you don’t want your dog to break free in a city you’re not familiar with. We really like these leashes from Dutchy Brand. They also have many other high-quality dog accessories.

#5 Foldable Dog Bowls

Bringing a regular dog bowl may take up unnecessary space in your suitcase. Instead, opt for a foldable one that is easily stored and can fit in your backpack in case your dog gets thirsty while exploring with you. We like this one from Mr. Peanut.

#6 Dog Waste Bags

Don't let your dog leave unwanted gifts all over the new city you're exploring. Make sure you’re stocked up on waste bags every time you take your dog for a walk. These from Downtown Pet Supply are cheap and can clip onto your bag.

#7 Microchips

This is essential whether or not you plan to travel with your dog. You can purchase a microchip online and then make an appointment with your vet to have it administered to your dog. (You should never do it yourself.)  We like this one from Buddy ID.  It's a little smaller than a regular chip, so it's more comfortable for your dog.
