If you were upset to hear the news of Southwest Airlines ending its service out of Newark, you can rest assured that competition isn't going anywhere. Frontier Airlines is planning to pick up the slack by announcing 15 new nonstop flights from Newark (EWR) with 7 on sale now at intro fares of just $15 one-way or $30 roundtrip.
UPDATE 10:00 AM, August 28, 2019: Most of the $15 one-way fares sold out very quickly. There is only one route remaining where you can string together a reasonable $30 roundtrip flight. All other routes have gone up in price, but fares are still well below the normal price.
Frontier Adds New Nonstop Service from/to Newark Airport
This will be the first time Frontier Airlines will fly from or to Newark (EWR) and it is a perfect opportunity for the airline to expand its ultra-low-cost flights to the New York area since slots at other airports are hard to access.
"We're excited to make flying more affordable for the Garden State with 15 new routes from Newark" Barry Biffle, President and CEO of Frontier Airlines, said in a press release.
Tickets are available for purchase on seven of the new routes today. You can get $15 intro fares between Newark (EWR) and Las Vegas (LAS), Orlando (MCO), Miami (MIA), West Palm Beach (PBI), Phoenix (PHX), and Atlanta (ATL). And $29 intro fares to/from San Juan (SJU). New daily service on these routes begins in either November or December 2019.
Frontier also announced that it will fly between Newark and Tampa (TPA), Punta Cana (PUJ), Cancun (CUN), Denver (DEN), Ontario (ONT), Chicago (ORD), Raleigh (RDU), and Dallas (DFW). These flights will begin in March and April 2020, and will be available for purchase at a later date.

Intro fares are available within the following dates and days of the week. Higher prices are available on other days of the week.

Alternate Fares
These intro fares do not have an online booking fee, but fares on other days of the week will have an online booking fee and you may be able to get cheaper flights at the airport. Discount Den member fares may be slightly less than standard fares on other days of the week.
Frontier also offers the Works bundle, which can be added to any flight during the initial booking. It includes a standard carry-on bag plus a personal item, one free checked bag, seat selection (including stretch seating), priority boarding, flight flexibility, and refundability. This is a value if you want all of these amenities, but chances are you can get away with just adding what you need a la carte for cheaper.
