If a weekend is too short, no worries, this deal is wide-open with nearly all airlines operating the route offering this price through March 2020. Atlanta – Chicago $116 Roundtrip on Southwest

By R Scapinello / shutterstock.com

We had quite the rarity this week with Southwest Airlines forgoing the posting a weekly sale, but that doesn’t mean the carrier has skipped offering some great fare deals. Here’s one as an example, fly nonstop from Atlanta to Chicago-Midway for $116 roundtrip starting in late July through October. Departure days will vary by week, but for the most part, you'll have the best luck searching for seats on midweek departure days like Tuesday and Wednesday. On Southwest’s site, the only place you can purchase tickets directly, I found seats departing ATL on Wednesday, September 18, and returning from MDW on Monday, September 23, 2019.

Portland, OR– Cook Islands $709 Roundtrip on Air New Zealand and Alaska

By Martin Valigursky / shutterstock.com

Air New Zealand is running a springtime sale on many of its routes to/from the States and its destinations in the South Pacific. For those in the market for an exotic escape but don’t want to fly all the way to Australia or NZ, then the Cook Islands might be the sweet spot for you. Piggybacking on this sale, Alaska Airlines is linking up with Air NZ on seamless one-stop connections to the Cook Islands like this one from Portland, Oregon to Rarotonga for $709 roundtrip. Not every week is available, but if you search for itineraries departing PDX on Saturdays and returning on Fridays in the fall or winter months, you should be able to find the listed fare price. As an example, I found seats departing PDX on Saturday, September 7, and returning from RAR on Friday, September 13, 2019, on Expedia at this price point.
