Fly nonstop from Austin to Los Angeles for $97 roundtrip on American, Delta, United, or Southwest. If you're in LA and want to visit the capital of Texas, this fare also works from Los Angeles to Austin. Weekend travel is available!
Travel Availability
Travel is widely available from August through mid-December. We've even spotted a few weekend travel dates (departing Friday, returning Sunday or Monday).
I found a flight on American over Labor Day Weekend, departing Austin AUS on Friday, August 30, returning from Los Angeles LAX on Tuesday, September 3.

Baggage
On American and Delta, this fare includes a carry-on bag plus one personal item. United's Basic Economy fare only includes a small personal item and anything larger must be checked. A checked bag costs $30 each way on American, Delta, or United.
On Southwest, this price includes a carry-on bag, a personal item, and two free checked bags.
Seat Assignments
For travel on American, Delta, and United, seats will be assigned at random upon check-in for this price. You may be able to pay a fee to choose a seat.
Southwest has an open seating policy, which means there are no assigned seats and you'll get to choose your seat during boarding. The order of boarding is determined by the time of check-in so check-in exactly 24 hours before departure or pay for priority boarding for a better choice of seat.
Alternate Fares
The upgrade to a standard or Main Cabin Economy fare will vary by airline and travel dates. After a few spot checks, it seems to be $60 more roundtrip on Delta and United, and $105 more on American. This will include a full-size carry-on bag, advanced seat assignments, and allow ticket changes/upgrades for a fee. A checked bag costs the same $30 each way.
If you want free checked bags, choose Southwest, though travel dates are scarce.
