Travel Availability

Travel is available throughout the year, from late May through March. A 28-day advance purchase and a Saturday night stay are required.

Inbound travel is blacked out from June 29 - August 8, 2019, but you can travel in late June or depart on select dates in July/early August and return from August 9 onward for a summer trip.

As an example, I found this price available departing New York JFK on Friday, August 1, returning from Amsterdam AMS on Friday, August 9.

Peak holiday travel in late December/early January is also blacked out, but you can find this price for longer trips during the holidays.

Baggage

This Basic Economy or Economy Light fare includes a carry-on bag plus a small personal item. A checked bag costs $60 each way.

Seat Assignments

Seats will be assigned at random upon check-in for this price. You may pay a fee to choose a specific seat.

Alternate Fares

A Main Cabin Economy fare is $607 roundtrip, which includes one free checked bag, advanced seat assignments, and allows ticket changes/upgrades for a fee.

United also has a slightly lower fare for $427 roundtrip from Newark to Amsterdam, but summer travel is more scarce. Norwegian is selling a $351 roundtrip fare for fall/winter travel.
