For anyone considering a trip to Brazil in the near future, the good news is costs continue to fall.
We’ve already predicted a drop in fares between the US and Brazil, but then there has always been the added expense, not to mention hassle, of arranging a visa.
But as of June 17, the Brazilian government will no longer require a tourist visa for visitors from the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Japan.
Last year, Brazil did lower the price of a visa to $40 for Americans, bookable online. Prior to that, a visa would have set you back $160 and require two trips to the consulate.
Yesterday's visa announcement was timed to coincide with Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro’s trip to Washington D.C., where he will meet with Donald Trump for the first time.
It is unlikely that the U.S. will reciprocate in eliminating the visa fee for Brazilian tourists which, in case you’re wondering, still costs $160.
