Frontier's Kids Fly Free promotion is back again and now includes summer travel dates! Save on family travel through August 2020. The airline is offering free flights for kids 14 and under on select nonstop domestic flights. The promotion is exclusive for Frontier's Discount Den members and allows one free child ticket for every one adult ticket (15+) purchased on the same reservation.
Editors note: This promotion has been extended multiple times since the initial announcement in January 2019. Currently, it expires April 30, 2020, but it's possible this will be extended again.
How to Book Free Flights for Kids on Frontier Airlines
To book, you must become a Discount Den member, if you aren't already, which has a $59.99 annual fee. Other perks of membership include discounted fares for up to 6 passengers on the same reservation and early access to booking flights when Frontier extends its booking schedule. You can sign up to be a member during the booking process.
The next step is to choose flights that qualify for the Kids Fly Free promotion. Kids are only allowed to fly for free on nonstop domestic flights when traveling on specific days of the week. Frontier lists the following dates as valid travel dates for this promotion.
Travel Availability
No promo code is necessary. Simply choose valid travel dates and select at least one adult and one child when searching on FlyFrontier.com to see the available Kids Fly Free dates on the calendar.
- Travel Period: Now through November 9, 2020, with a 14-day advance purchase.
- Travel Days of the Week: Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- Blackout Dates: May 22-26, June 30 - July 7, and September 3-9, 2020.
There are 8 specific markets excluded from this promotion.
You may have to click around to find available dates since Frontier operates about half of its route network on just a few days each week.
Sale Period
Tickets must be purchased on flyfrontier.com by April 30, 2020, at 11:59 pm ET. (This promotion has been extended multiple times in the past few months. It may or may not be extended after this date.)
This promotion cannot be combined with other offers or promo codes and it is only valid for the initial booking. Any changes to the reservation will result in loss of the Kids Fly Free promotion. Also, free-flying kids will not earn any frequent flyer miles.

Baggage
Frontier's fares only include one small personal item. Checked bag fees start at $34-$38 each way when purchased during the initial booking. Larger carry-on bag fees start at $37-$42 each way.
Seat Assignments
Frontier's fares do not include specific seat assignments. Seats will be assigned at random upon check-in if you skip the seat selection step when booking. You may pay a fee to choose a specific seat.
Alternate Fares
Frontier offers the Works bundle, which can be added to any flight during the initial booking. It includes a standard carry-on bag plus a personal item, one free checked bag, seat selection (including stretch seating), priority boarding, flight flexibility, and refundability. This is a value if you want all of these amenities, but chances are you can get away with just adding what you need a la carte for cheaper.
Is there a Catch?
Of course, bag fees and other travel add-ons such as choosing a specific seat are extra, but to my surprise, this Kids Fly Free promotion actually discounts the entire airfare including taxes and carrier-imposed fees like Frontier's online booking fee. This fee, which is labeled a "carrier interface charge", along with taxes can often make up the majority of the ticket price on Frontier. The fact that you'll only pay taxes and booking fees on one adult ticket, and then get a free child ticket, without any taxes or booking fees, makes this an incredible deal.
If you're looking to take a trip with the family, check out how much you can save using this promotion. And remember, you'll get a free child ticket for every paying adult, up to 3 free tickets on one reservation since Discount Den benefits are valid for up to 6 travelers. Only one membership is required.
Frontier often has the lowest fares in the markets where it flies. Major carriers usually compete with slightly higher fares, but the added bonus of free flights for kids on Frontier may steer you to give this ultra-low-cost carrier a try. Save on bag fees by traveling light and combining everything you need for the family in as few bags as possible.
