Sun Country has announced a big expansion for 2019. Six new cities and 19 new seasonal routes will be added between April and June. Intro fares are as low as $97 roundtrip with peak summer travel included!

New Sun Country Flights Starting in 2019

In this expansion, Sun Country will return to Chicago with new flights between Minneapolis (MSP) and Chicago-O'hare (ORD), which will be welcome competition for this popular route. Sun Country had previously flown between Minneapolis and Chicago-Midway, and fares between these two cities have remained unusually high ever since all the ultra-low-cost carriers abandoned service on this route. Look for fares to drop on all airlines once again.

Other new cities in this expansion include Washington D.C. (IAD), Philadelphia (PHL), Providence (PVD), San Antonio (SAT), Newark (EWR), and Sacramento (SMF). In addition, Sun Country is adding new routes to/from Minneapolis (MSP), Dallas (DFW), Nashville (BNA), Portland (PDX), and San Francisco (SFO).

The start date and travel days each week vary by route. I've included which days of the week Sun Country will fly each route, but the lowest available fare may only be available on certain days of the week. Click on the fare details for more info.

All domestic fares work in the reverse direction as well. Sun Country's lowest fares only include one small personal item (small backpack, large purse, etc.) that will fit underneath your seat. Adding a larger carry-on bag and/or a checked bag will cost $30 each way when booked online.

As an example booking, I found seats departing Minneapolis MSP on Wednesday, July 3, returning from Chicago ORD on Saturday, July 6, for $97 roundtrip, An excellent fare for travel over the 4th of July holiday.
