Winter is the perfect time to travel. People are back home after traveling for the holidays, schools are back in session, and purses are shut tight after splurging on gifts. That means many destinations are at off peak prices, and you should take advantage. While some spots aren’t exactly off peak, they are worth a visit during winter months.

Orlando
January and February may be the best months to visit Disney World or Universal Studios in Orlando. Once schools are back in session after the holidays, and before spring breaks start up, you’ll find the lines are as short as they can be. Beware of the week of President’s Day.here are some states that have vacation that week, but you’ll still be better off than going during peak spring break weeks in March and April. At Disney World, you can beat the lines at the new Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios, and visit Pandora in the Animal Kingdom without having to navigate insane crowds. Head to Universal Studios and drink some butterbeer at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter without having to wait for an hour. We’ve seen amazing flight deals to Orlando, some for less than $100 from the east coast, and less than $200 from the west!

Mexico
Winter is the perfect time to visit our neighbors to the south. It’s warm, cheaper, and less crowded. Be sure to go before spring breaks start, with many colleges having their spring breaks the first 2 weeks in March. If you get there in January or February, you’ll beat the college crowd, which also means cheaper rates at the resorts. Head to Chichen Itza to see an ancient Mayan city, just a day trip from Cancun. Or relax on the beach in Puerto Vallarta. For a full-relaxation vacation, check out one of the many resorts in Mexico, like the Desert Spa in Cabo San Lucas.

Australia
It’s summer in Australia, so winter is the perfect time to go! Despite it being peak season, we’ve seen some great prices to Australia from all over the US, but it is definitely a trip you’d have to dip into the savings for. Visit the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, or the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. If you want to go further north to Brisbane, you can say hello to the koalas at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. It’s also the perfect time to plan your bucket-list trip to the Great Barrier Reef, with daily flights to the Great Barrier Reef Airport (HTI) from all of the major Australian airports.

Colorado
Colorado is another location that is a perfect winter destination for the skiers out there. With resorts, skiing aplenty, and decent airfare, it’s the ski-lovers dream winter vacation. With a million resorts like Breckenridge, Sonnelap in Vail, and the Gant in Aspen, your biggest challenge will be deciding where to go! You could also spend your time in Denver, taking day trips to various ski towns, or sightseeing at any of Denver’s many attractions.

San Diego
LA usually gets all the attention for Southern CA, but why not head to San Diego instead? From the San Diego Zoo to Coronado, there is plenty to see and do. Spend the day in La Jolla Cove snorkeling and spending time with the seals. See what is happening in Balboa Park. And enjoy eating at one of the many delicious restaurants in the city. Fares are pretty decent to San Diego from many US cities.

Ireland
It may be wet, but winter is a perfect time to visit the Emerald Isle. It’s much cheaper this time of year, and less people are visiting, so top tourist spots won’t be as busy. From Dublin on the east coast, and Galway on the west, you will have a jam packed vacation. The newer Epic Museum in Dublin may pique the interest of those with Irish heritage. It documents the stories of the millions of Irish who left for better lives elsewhere. For the drink lovers, there’s the Guiness Storehouse in Dublin, the Tullamore Dew distillery in Tullamore, Smithwick’s in Killkenny, among many more. If drinking isn’t for you, there are tons of castles to visit: kiss the Blarney stone at Blarney Castle, visit Glenveagh Castle in Donegal, or Dungaire Castle in Kinvara. Vancouver
Vancouver is the perfect spot for a winter wonderland vacation. With Mt. Seymour, Grouse Mountain, and Cypress Mountain just 30 minutes away, you can have a city vacation with outdoor adventure- go skiing, tobogganing, snowshoeing or snowboarding! If you want to see the mountains but aren’t into sporting, try a snow limo. Sit back and relax while someone else takes you along the slopes! For city fun, try a true Canadian event and catch a Vancouver Canucks game at Rogers Arena. There are loads of attractions, including the Museum of Anthropology, Granville Island, or just take one of the many city tours available.
