For weekend travel this winter, fly nonstop from Chicago to New York for $137 roundtrip on American, Delta, or United. This same fare is available for New Yorkers looking for a weekend away in Chicago.

This price is available for flights departing on Fridays, returning on Sundays, from January through early March. You'll find even lower fares for mid-week travel, but we all know it's easier to get away for a quick weekend than it is to fly during the middle of the week.

I found seats departing Chicago ORD on Friday, January 25, returning from New York LGA on Sunday, January 27. If you travel super light, you can get these same dates for only $103 roundtrip on Spirit Airlines. The extra fees may add up to more on Spirit though.

The $137 roundtrip price is a Basic Economy fare on American, Delta, and United. American and Delta include a normal carry-on bag plus a personal item. United only includes a small personal item. Choose your airline according to your needs. An upgrade to a standard Economy ticket varies by airline from $14-$70 roundtrip.
