Here's a new and surprising nonstop route from British Airways starting up next spring. Fly from Charleston, South Carolina to London-Heathrow for $598 roundtrip on BA's latest U.S. destination.
This seasonal route will kick off on Tuesday, April 4 and fly throughout the spring, summer, and part of the fall up until October 24, 2019. Flights are twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays and fares in the spring can be purchased for the listed price above, peak summer travel can cost significantly more, so it's best to look for deals in the shoulder season.
- Flights depart Charleston (CHS) at 10:30 pm and arrive in London (LHR) at 11:30 am the following day with an 8 hour scheduled flight time.
- Return flights depart London (LHR) at 5:00 pm and arrive back in Charleston (CHS) at 9:00 pm with a 9 hour scheduled flight time.
The flight will be operated on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner in which coincidentally Charleston has a Boeing factory nearby, leading many to speculate a tie-in. However, with service only twice weekly and only slated for seasonal service, it looks like this flight is more geared toward leisure travelers.
As an example, I found seats departing CHS on Sunday, April 28 and returning from LHR on Thursday, May 9, 2019. Again to find tickets at the $598 price-point, you'll need to look in April and May.
These flights book into British's Basic Economy fare bucket and only includes a carry-on bag plus one personal item. If you need to check bags, consider paying for the standard Economy fare, which includes one free checked bag.
