Norwegian Airlines has added three new nonstop flights from Florida to Europe. New nonstop service begins this fall.
Norwegian Expands from Florida to Europe
The new routes from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando begin in late October and are only offered a few days per week. You may be able to obtain slightly lower fares by purchasing two separate one-way fares and/or booking on a Norwegian website from a different country of origin. Keep in mind foreign transaction fees may apply if booking in a different currency. Use a credit card with no foreign transaction fees to avoid any potential loss in savings.
Fares are not advertised with an expiration date and may jump in price at any time.
Orlando to Stockholm $362 roundtrip, nonstop Service begins October 29 (Mondays / Fridays)
Fort Lauderdale to Rome $440 roundtrip, nonstop Service begins October 30 (Tuesdays / Fridays)
Fort Lauderdale to Madrid $440 roundtrip, nonstop Service begins October 30 (Outbound: Tuesdays / Saturdays; Inbound: Wednesdays / Sundays)
Norwegian's LowFare only includes 22 lbs. of hand luggage (one carry-on up to 55x40x23 cm & one personal item that can fit underneath your seat). Checked baggage starts at $45 each way. Meal service and advanced seat selection are not included in this fare. You can purchase Norwegian's "LowFare+", which includes first checked bag, meal, and seat selection for less than purchasing these items separately.
Norwegian has greatly disrupted transatlantic airfares over the past few years. The low-cost model seems to be working as the major airlines have all introduced fares with similar baggage restrictions to compete with Norwegian and other low-cost carriers. It seems this type of airfare is here to stay for flights between Norh America and Europe, so remember to pack light and avoid checked bag fees if you'd like the lowest prices. Here's some tips on how to pack for a long trip in just a carry-on bag.
