WestJet's new ultra-low-cost subsidiary Swoop begins service next month. To kick things off, Swoop is having a sale with fares starting at just $88 CAD round-trip.

Once considered a low-cost carrier itself, WestJet has evolved by partnering with Delta and becoming more like a legacy carrier, which competes mainly with Air Canada and other major US carriers American and United.

The new upstart Swoop looks to compete for customers in the emerging ultra-low-cost model in Canada. Another new airline, Jetlines, has announced plans to enter this market, but for now, Flair Air is the only airline to offer a similar product in Canada. This product is comparable to what US airlines Spirit, Frontier, and Allegiant offer.

Sale fares are valid mostly for spring and fall travel, though you may find summer travel only slightly higher in price. All routes are nonstop.

Tickets must be booked by 11:59 p.m. MT, on May 14, 2018.

Edmonton to Abbotsford $88 CAD ($69 USD) round-trip Service begins July 25.

Hamilton to Winnipeg $99 CAD ($77 USD) round-trip Service begins June 25.

Winnipeg to Abbotsford $148 CAD ($116 USD) round-trip Service begins August 17.

Hamilton to Halifax $197 CAD ($154 USD) round-trip Service begins June 20.

Abbotsford to Hamilton $240 CAD ($186 USD) round-trip Service begins June 20.

Hamilton to Edmonton $245 CAD ($190 USD) round-trip Service begins June 25.

All fares are nonstop and work in the reverse direction as well. Fares are displayed in USD on our linked pages.

As with other ultra-low-cost-carriers, the base fare will only include transportation for you and a small personal item such as a small backpack, briefcase, or large purse that will fit underneath the seat in front of you.

Checked bag fees start at $27-$29 CAD when purchased online. Larger carry-on bag fees start at $37-$41 CAD. There are also extra fees if you would like to choose a specific seat and for pretty much anything else such as snacks or beverages onboard.
