An unexploded bomb from World War II was discovered in the River Thames Sunday night leading to the closure of London City Airport LCY. London City Airport will be closed all day today, Monday February 12, 2018 and is expected to reopen at some point tomorrow. The closure today will affect up to 16,000 passengers over 250 scheduled flights.
The Royal Navy has set up an exclusion zone of more than 200 meters to handle the situation. “The removal will take place during the course of the afternoon and into the early evening,” according to a video message by Robert Sinclair, London City’s chief executive officer.
You can follow the London City Airport twitter feed for further updates on the situation.
